Gifted Education Program

Rainbow's Gifted Education Program offers many options for the gifted student.  There are resource classes, regular classroom differentiation of instruction, and cluster grouping with differentiation in the regular classroom.  Grade or specific content acceleration and individual services are also possible.

Regular classroom differentiation of instruction means that the gifted student receives challenging assignments within his/her regular classroom.  These assignments are in line with what is being taught to all students in the classroom.  The classroom teacher and the gifted resource teacher work together to provide these services.

Cluster grouping with differentiation in the regular classroom means that several gifted students are placed together in the regular classroom.  These students receive challenging assignments that are in line with regular classroom instruction.  The classroom teacher and the gifted resource teacher work together to provide services to the group.

Individualized services could mean mentorships, independent study, individual guidance and counseling, and/or individualized academic challenges.  The gifted resource teacher would act as a liaison between the student and those providing the services.

Additional opportunities at Rainbow ES include, competitions (i.e. Math Olympiad and Math Counts), clubs, leadership activities, and special events.
