Rainbow Elementary School Dress Code

 

For complete details of the dress code policy you can ask the school for a complete copy of the policy.

The Basics of the Dress Code Policy are as follows:

 

Leg Wear Any solid color bottom, classic style, well fitted, to include cotton, corduroy, or denim.

Examples of Acceptable Leg wear:

· Cotton, Cotton/polyester or corduroy long pants (Docker or Chino style) with or without reinforced knees

· Jumpers (just above the knee)

· Skirts (just above the knee)

· Shorts (Bermuda length - just above the knee)

· Walking shorts (Bermuda length - just above the knee)

· Classic style denim wear with no embellishments

·  Pant wear cannot be fraying, sagging, ripped, have holes or be hip huggers.

 

Belts (Brown, Navy or Black) Belts should be worn with all looped pants for students third grade and above.

 

Shirts and Blouses Any collared shirt with sleeves to include solids, plaids and stripes.

·  Polo shirt – short sleeved or long sleeved

·  Oxford shirt – short sleeved or long sleeved

· Turtleneck or mock turtleneck

·  Blouse with a round Peter Pan collar – short-sleeved or long sleeved

· No lettering, words, numbers or logos are allowed on shirts.

 

Exceptions:

Official PTSA t-shirts, polo shirts, sweatshirts are allowed on school days, but not on off-post study trips.

 

Footwear

· Socks:  Regular socks, knee socks, tights in any solid color

· Shoes:  No black-soled shoes or tennis shoes that leave marks, platform shoes, platform tennis shoes, flip-flops, sandals, or dress shoes with slick soles be worn.

 

Sweaters   Any solid or striped sweater.

· V-neck, crew neck, cardigan sweaters or sweater vests 

· Sweaters MUST be worn over a uniform shirt or blouse.

· No lettering, words, numbers or logos are allowed on sweaters.

 

Jewelry and Accessories

·  Jewelry must be discreet. 

·  Under no circumstances will any gang, drug/alcohol, violence, or counter-culture symbols or items be worn or allowed at school.

 

All clothing should be properly fitted, clean and neat in appearance.

 

Any questions regarding dress code appropriateness will be at the principal’s sole discretion.

 

Students in our PSCD, Sure Start and Kindergarten programs are encouraged to adhere to the policy as appropriate.  All students in grades one through six must be in compliance.
